After extensive efforts to right the wrongs of the past, the leadership of the Indigenous People Of Biafra–Political Wing, has resolved to announce its endorsed candidate in the off cycle electionn in Anambra State, slated for November.
The group said that the announcement, which would be made with leaders of other Igbo-centric groups, will usher in a new beginning for the people.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, which a copy was made available to Diaspora Digital Media.
Though, this effort to engage in politics and mobilize Igbo youths to make a change or embrace political emancipation as an alternative is being championed by the IPOB Political Wing.
The statement reads: “We IPOB-PW have been on the mission to convince and get everyone on board to ensure we survive this political drought because distancing from politics has not helped Ndigbo. Finally, we can now beat our chest and say we are drawing closer to the mission goal.
“We had planned to field a candidate, but the election came too suddenly for us. We thought about the next step and resolved to invite key organizations to assess and reach a verdict on the candidate that would be in the best interest of Ndigbo.
“We urge Ndigbo to stay alert and understand that instead of guns, it’s time to carry voters’ cards and decide what we want. With our voters’ cards, we can hold leaders to ransom in the best interest of our people.
“In this journey of political emancipation, we need unity and extensive consultation, and that is what we have done. We now lead the synergy needed to make a difference in the arena of politics.
Recall that the group had promised to come up with a significant announcement after it disclosed that it had been mobilizing Ndigbo for the purpose of turning around their political misfortune.
It appears the group has concluded its extensive consultation and may jointly take a position with other groups it brought under its umbrella.
