Akwa Ibom @ 38: RMAFC Commissioner, Imo Akpan, Lauds State’s Progress

As Akwa Ibom State celebrates its 38th anniversary, Barr. Imo Akpan, the state’s representative at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has hailed its journey from a “seed of statehood” to a “giant tree” of peace and development.
In a goodwill message issued today to mark the state’s creation anniversary, Barr. Akpan reflected on the state’s legacy and its current trajectory under the administration of Governor Umo Eno.
“Thirty-eight years ago, the seed of a new state was sown. Today, we stand as living testimony to the faithfulness of God and the courage of our forebears,” Akpan stated. He emphasized that the state has achieved a significant milestone, asserting, “It is therefore no exaggeration to say that at 38, our state has achieved the maturity of an elder. The accomplishments are tangible, the momentum is undeniable, and the spirit of our people is unbreakable.”
The commissioner extended a special commendation to the state’s chief executive. “I extend our deepest gratitude to our Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, for his steadfast leadership,” the message read, signaling strong federal-level support for the state government’s initiatives.
Akpan also acknowledged the contributions of the citizenry, appreciating “every citizen who has played a part in this success story.”
He called for sustained collective effort, urging residents to “continue to build a state that future generations will be proud of.
Akwa Ibom State was created on September 23, 1987, from the old Cross River State.
