BREAKING: Peter Obi slams fake Trump, MC Oluomo photos as propaganda DDM News

(DDM) – Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has debunked circulating images falsely linking him to high-profile political meetings.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the former Anambra governor described the pictures as doctored and the stories attached as deliberate propaganda.

One of the viral photos allegedly portrayed Obi in a meeting with former United States President Donald Trump, alongside claims that Trump praised him.

Another photo circulated online attempted to depict Obi in the office of Lagos transport union leader, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

Obi categorically stated that he had neither met Trump recently nor visited MC Oluomo for any political engagement.

He condemned the photos as fabrications designed to mislead the public and distract from pressing national issues.

“These pictures are fake and doctored, and the stories are entirely false,” Obi said in a firm rebuttal.

The Labour Party flagbearer warned that such fabrications highlight the persistent dangers of fake news and disinformation in Nigeria’s fragile political climate.

He noted that false claims and manipulated images not only misguide citizens but also erode public trust in authentic political communication.

Obi stressed that Nigerians and the international community must remain vigilant by verifying information before sharing it on social platforms.

He described the culture of propaganda as a deliberate attempt to weaken truth, integrity, and accountability in governance.

The former governor emphasized that if he had attended such meetings, he would have personally announced them on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.

“My politics has never been about seeking praise or cheap publicity,” Obi said, reaffirming his rejection of propaganda-driven campaigns.

He reiterated that his political mission remains focused on addressing insecurity, restoring rule of law, and improving Nigeria’s education and healthcare systems.

Obi added that his agenda also includes tackling mass poverty by creating policies that lift millions of Nigerians into economic stability.

He assured his supporters that his guiding principles remain integrity, accountability, and transparency, values he considers crucial for Nigeria’s rebirth.

The Labour Party candidate urged citizens not to be distracted by lies but to stay engaged in demanding solutions from those in power.

He concluded his statement with his signature optimism, declaring that “a new Nigeria is POssible.”

Political analysts note that Obi’s reaction reflects the increasing challenge public figures face as misinformation spreads rapidly through social media.

Experts warn that fake photos and stories, if unchecked, can influence voter perception and destabilize democratic debate.

Observers also point out that the timing of such disinformation campaigns often coincides with heightened political activities ahead of elections.

Media experts have called on regulatory bodies, fact-checking organizations, and platforms like X and Facebook to strengthen measures against doctored content.

Meanwhile, Obi’s rebuttal has drawn support from his loyal base, known as the “Obidients,” who continue to campaign for him as a symbol of change.

For many of his supporters, the viral fake photos are proof of desperate attempts by opponents to undermine his credibility.

Obi, however, insists that no amount of propaganda will derail his mission to build a Nigeria where truth and accountability prevail.
