FG Unveils Theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary

The Federal Government has unveiled the official theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebrations, scheduled for October 1, 2025.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said this year’s theme is “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

According to the government, the theme emphasizes the importance of unity, patriotism, and collaboration among public institutions, the private sector, civil society, and citizens in achieving peace, prosperity, and national progress.

Officials explained that the choice of theme reflects Nigeria’s resilience since gaining independence in 1960.

They noted that despite challenges, the country has recorded significant milestones across different sectors, and consolidating these gains under the Renewed Hope Agenda requires collective effort.

Imohiosen stated that all ministries, departments, agencies, and partners must align their programmes and activities with the theme to ensure it resonates across all sectors of national life.

As part of the 65th Independence anniversary events, a Juma’at prayer will be held on Friday, September 26, followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, September 28.

A World Press Conference has also been scheduled for Monday, September 29, in Abuja, ahead of the October 1 celebrations.

The Federal Government said the anniversary offers Nigerians an opportunity to reflect on the journey since 1960, celebrate the progress achieved, and recommit to building a stronger, more prosperous nation for future generations.
