MASSOB rejects sit-at-home order, declares support for Anambra guber poll

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has disassociated itself from a sit-at-home order reportedly declared by some pro-Biafra activists ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

In a statement signed by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, MASSOB strongly condemned the online campaigns promoting the sit-at-home directive, describing it as a “deceitful ploy” to destabilize Igboland.

“MASSOB will never allow this deceit to scale through”, the statement read.

“During every election in the South-East, they always promote this sympathetic deceit of sit-at-home, claiming it supports Biafra actualization. But MASSOB has consistently countered and stopped them, and this time will be no different.”

The group warned those behind the campaign to desist immediately, emphasizing that no anti-Biafra elements or foreign-based agitators would be allowed to create instability in the region.

MASSOB reassured residents that the November 8 election will proceed as scheduled and revealed it has begun grassroots mobilization and sensitization efforts to ensure high voter turnout.

“MASSOB members and other pro-Biafra groups will participate in the election, supporting a competent and credible candidate who represents the interests of Ndigbo”, the statement added.

MASSOB also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain focused and undeterred by external distractions. Stressing the importance of a peaceful and credible election, the group highlighted the risks of political instability and chaos if the election is disrupted.

“The governorship election must be peaceful and credible. Anambra’s political space cannot be left in a vacuum”, MASSOB declared.

The group urged the people of Anambra State to exercise their constitutional rights by coming out to vote, emphasizing that its position on the election aligns with the broader interests of the Igbo nation.

“This does not signify a derailment from the Biafra self-determination struggle. The overall interest of Ndigbo must come first before any group or individual agenda”, Comrade Madu concluded.
