The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has called on government at all levels to initiate actions and programmes aimed at offering a better opportunity for the girl children to maximize their potentials and earn a better life.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that as the global community celebrates the International Day of the Girl Child, in his message, Rt Hon. Udeze enjoined relevant authorities and agencies to abrogate obnoxious policies and inhuman acts such as physical, sexual and emotional torture as well as other related gender-based violence like forced or early child marriage militating against the future of the girl child.
The Speaker while commending the wife of the Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo for all her efforts towards the betterment of the future of the young girls in the State, called for adequate inclusion of young females in matters that concern them especially on education, adding that an educated woman has the power to educate the entire family.
The State Number One Lawmaker, enjoined the girl children to parade themselves with dignity and shun all forms of immorality, reminding them that girls with dreams become women with vision, purpose and impact.
Udeze appealed to parents to continue to mould and guide the future of their girl children and called on affluent citizens to see the empowerment of the girl child as a collective responsibility that most be carried out with firm commitment.
