# Chief Cletus Ibeto, a renowned industrialist from Nnewi, has expressed his enthusiasm and admiration for the recent developments in Anambra State, particularly the impressive infrastructure introduced under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
After his visit to the Solution Fun City and was later received by Governor Soludo at the Light House, Awka, Chief Ibeto shared that he was overwhelmed by the facilities available, noting that such an impressive project is unexpected in Anambra, expressing his sense of pride in the state’s advancement, thanks to the leadership of Governor Soludo.
Chief Ibeto described the Light House as a groundbreaking endeavor for Anambra as the state house tour left him in awe, described the facility as fantastic and praised Governor Soludo’s commitment to his promises and the tangible results of his administration.
Commenting on the forthcoming Governorship election, Chief Ibeto stated that he sees no significant challengers to Governor Soludo, emphasizing that Anambra residents are aware of the Governor’s impactful initiatives and the positive changes occurring in the state.
He expressed strong belief that by November 8, Governor Soludo would be officially declared the winner of the election, reaffirming the public’s support for his leadership.
Governor Soludo, who appreciated the visit, expressed optimism that more development are underway by his administration.
# The wife of the Anambra State governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, says girls are treasures, change-makers, better leaders, better leaders, adding that any society that wants to grow must first acknowledge the uniqueness of the girl child and do all that it can to protect and guard them.
The Anambra First Lady, who is the founder of ‘Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’, urged families, work and worship places, schools, and communities, to do the best it can to establish the best environment for every girl to succeed in.
Mrs. Soludo stated this in a statement released to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, adding that as a government that thrives on inclusivity, the state has taken extraordinary steps to build a healthy society for every gender to live and excel in.
She said the society must take intentional steps to talk and take sincere actions on peculiar issues affecting the girl child.
# Students across Anambra State joined in celebrating World Space Week and Stem Initiative which is an international celebration to mark man’s exploration in space.
The program which brought secondary and primary school students together was powered by Young Scientists Center; in partnership with Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, with the theme; “Living in space”.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman, Post Primary School Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, said that the world today is all about science because it connects and improves mankind and has brought the world to a global community where one can access and know what is happening within a twinkle of an eye through science.
Represented by Science Desk Officer of the Commission, Mrs Eucharia Egwuonwu, the PPSSC Chairman asked the students to work hard, stating that the time is now because they have all the opportunities to explore in their learning so as to impact in their future.
# Health professionals from the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja and their counterparts in Anambra State gathered in Awka, recently to deliberate on the best ways to tackle maternal and neonatal mortality in the state, and the country at large.
The event was a five-day workshop on Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII); a federal government-led initiative aimed at reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates in Nigeria.
For those five days, they were brainstorming on issues on the subject matter, engaging in fieldwork, sharing ideas, looking at challenges and proffering what they considered to be solutions to the problems.
# Ndi Anaocha have made a resounding resolution to return Governor Chukwuma Soludo for second term in office.
The unanimous resolution was made after stakeholders in the council area assessed the gigantic infrastructural projects being carried out by the Soludo administration in the council area.
They made the resolution at Anaocha Council Area Headquarters, Neni during a meeting of all serving and past House of Assembly members, Commissioners, past Chairmen, Secretaries, Councillors and government appointees from the local government area, and the meeting was to sensitize and mobilize people in the area for Governor Soludo’s re-election.
Addressing the gathering, the Mayor of Anaocha Council Area, Hon. Romanus Ibekwe, appreciated the stakeholders for their contributions towards the growth of the area, stating that for them to come together, irrespective of their party affiliations, means that they mean well for the people of Anaocha.
Ibekwe said that the dualization of Amawbia-Ekwuluobia-Uga road, Nwagu Agulu-Nnewi road, Agbanabo Nri road and many other developmental projects in the council area are tangible reasons to deliver the Governor come November 8.
# The Nigeria Institute of Architects, Anambra State Chapter, NIAAC, has held its 2025 Annual Conference with a call on members to always maintain best ethical standards in their architectural practices.
The conference themed; “Architectural Practice and Professionalism In A Challenging Economy” was held at the Department of Architecture, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and had in attendance members of the profession, as well as students of Architecture.
Anambra State Chairman of NIAAC, Architect Dr. Ikenna Onuorah, in his opening address, said the theme of the conference is a topic that resonates deeply with current realities facing the architecture profession, noting that the profession is plagued by numerous challenges which include inadequate compensation, lack of recognition and limited opportunities for professional growth and development; leading to brain drain.
Onuorah noted that in the light of these challenges, it is imperative that members come together as professionals to deliberate on the way forward, adding that together; they can build a stronger and more resilient profession that serves the needs of the society.
# The Desk Officer, Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) on the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII) project, Dr. Obianuju Okoye, said that MAMII seeks to introduce innovative solutions to address the underlying causes of maternal and neonatal deaths, focusing on areas such as access to quality healthcare and provision of timely medical interventions.
Speaking in an event held at Awka, Okoye said that the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, had directed that the programme should be localised in communities with high maternal and neonatal mortalities in the country.
Okoye said that there were LGAs which had been identified as priority locations with high maternal mortality, and that due to inadequate access to healthcare, especially in rural areas, many women face challenges in receiving proper care during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum.
# The President of Ojoto Centre LSD Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Mrs. Ugochi Ehiahuruike, has called on women in oil and mineral-bearing communities to unite for the economic emancipation of women across Anambra State.
Ehiahuruike made the call during the inauguration of various women’s cooperative groups under the Centre LSD Multipurpose Cooperative, an offshoot of the Women in Frontline of Extractive Communities (WIFE) project being implemented by the Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) across the Niger Delta states.
According to Ehiahuruike, women from communities where oil, gas, or solid mineral resources are found in Anambra State qualify to be members of the cooperative groups.
She added that after disbursement, members are expected to utilize the funds for 30 days before repayment begins on a weekly basis. “The repayment will last for a total of five months, making it a six-month project cycle,” she said.
Ehiahuruike noted that the loan scheme is designed to be revolving, allowing new beneficiaries to access funds as repayments are made.
