Premier League: Arsenal’s arch-rival set to hand Liverpool the title

Liverpool’s dominant Premier League season has fans wondering when they could officially secure the title. Here are the key dates.
Liverpool are on the verge of winning the Premier League title, with a 15-point lead and nine games remaining.
Despite playing within themselves for much of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Southampton, Arne Slot’s side picking maximum points and Arsenal dropping two in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Manchester United means Mikel Arteta’s troops, who have a game in hand, need a miracle to topple the Merseyside outfit.
When could Liverpool claim Premier League title?
The Reds’ dominant form has led to speculation about when they could officially be crowned champions.
As reported by The Mirror, the earliest Liverpool can secure the title is April 12, provided they win their next two matches and Arsenal drop points in their upcoming fixtures against Chelsea, Fulham, Everton and Brentford.
However, there are several other potential dates, depending on the results of Liverpool and the Gunners.
If Arsenal win their game in hand and match the Reds’ results, Slot’s side could lift the trophy on the weekend of May 3/4 against Chelsea.
Liverpool could win the title against Tottenham on April 27; however, this is contingent on a few factors. First, Chelsea must defeat Arsenal on March 16. Second, the Gunners must match Liverpool’s results before the Anfield fixture in April.
A victory over the Gunners on May 10 could also clinch the title if Liverpool extend their lead to seven points with only two games remaining.
Liverpool’s final home match against Crystal Palace on May 25 is the latest they could lift the trophy, ensuring a celebration in front of their home fans.
This would be the first time since 1990 that Liverpool fans have witnessed a title celebration live.
Mohamed Salah has expressed his desire to win the Premier League title, highlighting the importance of sharing the moment with the city and the fans, as the 2020 title win occurred behind closed doors due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“The greatest motivation is to win the Premier League, not even the Champions League because I always choose the Champions League,” Salah said in January.
“For seven years I always say Champions League, this is the first year I say the Premier League. I just want to win the Premier League with the city and the fans, and to experience that day and go on a parade in the city is going to be incredible.
“It’s going to be unforgettable because I know how much it means to win the Premier League.”
What next for Liverpool?
Liverpool aim to hold on to their last-16 first-leg advantage in the Champions League when they host Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday’s continental tussle at Anfield.
