Epelle’s statement was in response to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s declaration that nothing would happen if Governor Siminalayi Fubara were impeached. The elder statesman countered this claim, asserting that Fubara could not be removed and urging both leaders to resolve their disagreements peacefully.

Additionally, he appealed to Asari Dokubo and Tompolo, advising them not to take actions that could disrupt the state.

Epelle stated:

“Regardless of the circumstances, impeachment should not be on the table, even if people are entitled to their opinions. Not all opinions align with constitutional principles. What would be the impact? The people of Rivers are strong and peaceful.

“I also want to call on my brothers, Asari Dokubo and Tompolo, who have made threats about returning to the creeks. You have good intentions for this state; don’t let yourselves be pushed into making regrettable decisions.”
