Plans To Remove Traditional Ruler Of Nimo Community Deepens

Committee Chairman on Public Petitions, Hon. Obi Nweke at plenary on Thursday present three petitions seeking the removal of the traditional ruler of Nimo Community, HRM Maxi Oliobi.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the first petition was written by Nimo Town Development Union (NTDU), requesting for the withdrawal of the certificate of recognition over numerous alleged atrocities against the traditional ruler.

Hon. Nweke, the member representing Anambra East Constituency, also presented a petition written by the President General (PG) of Nimo Community, Engr. Dan Zeelunjo Anakpe, on the ‘Peace Committee Report’ which indicted Igwe Oliobi (Owelle Nimo).

The Secretary General and his assistants also forwarded their petition to the 8th Assembly, requesting for the detronment of the traditional ruler of Nimo,

Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, referred the petitions to the House Committee on Petitions.

Rt. Hon. Udeze urged the Committee to treat the matter urgently and report back to the House in two weeks time.

The Speaker also directed the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Jude Akpua (Njikoka two) and Hon. Patrick Umuoba, Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chiftancy Matters, to assist in doing justice to the petitions.

ANN recalled that ndi Nimo, in their large numbers, last Thursday, March 6th 2025, stormed the Anambra State House of Assembly, in pretest demanding the removal of Owelle Nimo.
