A week to my wedding MKO gave me N50k which was like $50k in 1992 and he drove to my wedding -Momodu

Dele Momodu has shared how he left his job to support MKO Abiola’s presidential campaign. He said a month after he got married Abiola declared his intention to run for president. He said that he told his wife there was no way Abiola would be contesting for the presidency and he wouldn’t be involved in the campaign.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Honest Bunch Podcast by Glitch Africa Studios, Momodu revealed that during his wedding in December 1992, Abiola personally drove all the way to Ijebu-Igbo to attend the ceremony. He said just a week before his wedding, Abiola gave him ₦50,000 as a gift. He explained that at the time, that amount was equivalent to $50,000 in value.

In Momodu’s words: “During my wedding, Abiola drove all the way to Ijebu-Igbo in December 1992, and the week before the wedding he gave me 50 thousand naira which at that time was like 50 thousand dollars”
