“Adeleke’s Defection Will Doom APC In 2026 – Osun Youth Group Warns

The Osun Progressives Youth has warned against welcoming Governor Ademola Adeleke, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the group, doing so could destroy the party’s chances in the 2026 and 2027 elections.
In a statement by its coordinator on Monday, Tunmise Ajiboye, the group argued that Adeleke’s leadership style lacks progressive values and would only create factional crisis within the APC.
“Adeleke’s presence will only bring bad luck to APC because he knows that he will be bitterly defeated by the candidate of our party in 2026,” Ajiboye said.
The group further warned that Osun people are disillusioned with Adeleke’s administration, citing a public desire to vote him out.
They criticized comparisons between Osun and PDP-dominated states like Delta and Akwa Ibom, noting that Osun remains a progressive stronghold with APC winning 47.34% of the 2023 presidential vote.
“If Adeleke is allowed to come to the APC, APC votes may even decrease because many people will feel betrayed and dejected,” the group added.
Meanwhile, a socio-political group, Osun Leaders of Thought, has lauded Governor Adeleke’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu, calling it a show of “political maturity.”
The group said the visit fosters regional unity and praised Tinubu’s reception as a mark of leadership.
They condemned criticisms from APC members, particularly ex-Speaker Timothy Owoeye, for saying “the Osun APC ticket is not for sale.”
According to them, Tinubu’s action was not political but statesmanlike: “Leadership must rise above partisanship.
Osun remains a vital part of the Yoruba region, and cooperation between state and federal leaders should be encouraged.”
