Afenifere Backs Tinubu Re-election After Meeting With Northern Caucus

Pan-Yoruba Socio-Political Group Endorses President for 2027, Citing Need for Continuity and National Unity.

The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has officially thrown its support behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027, following a strategic meeting with a caucus of Northern political leaders. The endorsement signals a consolidation of political alliances ahead of the next general election cycle.

The decision was announced after a high-level consultation designed to forge cross-regional unity and support for the current administration’s continuity agenda. The specific northern leaders involved were not immediately named, but their presence underscores a commitment to establishing a broad national political front.

Afenifere leaders reportedly based their endorsement on the President’s perceived commitment to restructuring and good governance. A spokesperson for Afenifere highlighted that the group is backing Tinubu to ensure the realization of long-held democratic and fiscal ideals.

“We have seen the President’s clear resolve on issues of economic reform and the commitment to true federalism,” a source close to the Afenifere leadership stated, “and we believe his second term is essential for these critical projects to be completed and embedded in our nation’s fabric.”

The visiting Northern leaders, whose message centered on bridging the political divide, were quoted as emphasizing the importance of stabilizing the nation through strong, continuous governance, regardless of regional background.

The meeting comes amid growing political maneuvers across the country. While Afenifere has signaled its support, other major northern socio-political groups have previously voiced concerns about the economic hardships facing the region. However, this joint resolution by the Afenifere leadership and the Northern caucus indicates a calculated move to present a united front for the incumbent President’s re-election campaign.
