Akpabio seeks court order over Natasha’s satirical apology video

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding the removal of a satirical video posted by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

His legal team, led by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN, claims the video violates a judicial directive and seeks its immediate deletion from all her social media platforms.

Additionally, Akpabio requests that Akpoti-Uduaghan publish a written apology in two national newspapers and submit a compliance affidavit.

The controversial video, shared on April 27, features the senator mockingly apologizing for “maintaining dignity” and not letting Akpabio “have his way” with her.

Meanwhile, the video went viral, intensifying their ongoing feud which reportedly began over Senate seating arrangements.

Akpabio’s lawyers argue the post disrespects the judiciary and could inflame tensions further.

However, Akpoti-Uduaghan has yet to respond publicly to the legal action.

Observers note this case reflects recurring clashes among Nigerian lawmakers that often escalate into public spectacles.

As the court prepares to hear the petition, many await its outcome and potential implications for political discourse.

The situation underscores how personal disputes between leaders can overshadow governance priorities.

With public interest growing, the judiciary now faces pressure to balance free expression with institutional respect.

Regardless of the verdict, this episode reveals deeper tensions within Nigeria’s political culture.

The case continues unfolding as citizens debate where to draw the line between political satire and legal accountability in a democracy.
