Anambra 2025: APC Professional Women Storm Awka, Endorse Ukachukwu–Ekwunife Ticket

The APC Professional Women Council has, on Tuesday September 30, 2025, stormed Awka for the endorsement rally in support of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife.

The event, according to observers, gave the political atmosphere in Anambra State a dramatic turn on ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election.

The event drew representatives from the 21 local government areas of the state, as well as coordinators from across the South-East.

One observer described it as a “watershed moment” in the march towards bringing Anambra State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) fold.

Hon. Tony Ezekwelu, a stalwart of the APC and former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, addressed the gathering.

Speaking, Hon. Ezekwelu declared that Anambra has finally found in Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu “a true leader who genuinely cares for ndi Anambra.”

He described Ukachukwu as a man whose concern for the welfare, wellbeing, and security of the people comes naturally and without self-interest.

In enthusiastic address, Ezekwelu lambasted the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for claiming projects done by APC.

He stressed that all federal road projects currently under construction in the state are achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s APC-led Federal Government, not Governor Soludo.

“From Awka to Ekwulobia to Akokwa, and from Agulu through Nnewi to Okija — all are federal roads made possible by President Tinubu’s approval.

“The credit belongs squarely to the APC,” he asserted.

He further questioned the use of state resources under Soludo, noting that Anambra has earned about ₦680 billion in three years.

“With that amount, each local government should have benefitted by at least ₦14–18 billion. Yet, what is there to show for it?

“No single road has been constructed in Idemili South, Nnewi South, Ayamelum, and many others,” he stated.

Ezekwelu concluded by urging ndi Anambra to rally behind Prince Ukachukwu, whom he described as an all-round leader with the capacity to transform every sector of the state.

Dr. Vivian Obi, Zonal Coordinator of the APC Professional Women Council, further electrified the gathering.

Dr. Obi announced that members across the 21 LGAs have unanimously resolved to deliver bloc votes to Ukachukwu.

She described him as “a visionary game-changer whose promises are never rhetoric but grounded in integrity and action.”

Evang. Lillian Okeke, State Coordinator of the APC Professional Women Council, described Ukachukwu as “the best choice for Anambra in 2025 — a God-fearing man with a compassionate heart and a listening ear.”

She said he has demonstrated readiness to secure and prosper the state, pointing to his firm opposition to ndi aka odo, armed groups allegedly terrorising the people.

She also hailed Ukachukwu’s choice of Senator Uche Ekwunife as running mate as evidence of his commitment to gender balance and inclusivity.

During the endorsement rally and solidarity, APC Women Council leaders from neighbouring South-East states urged Anambra women to put their weight behind Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife.

They also urged the women to take decisive step towards delivering Anambra into higher glory and APC’s fold.
