Anambra Assembly Amends Homeland Security Bill


Anambra State House of Assembly on Thursday at plenary presided by Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, amended the ‘Homeland Security Bill.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the amended was done after the House Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme moved a motion and was seconded by the Minority Leader Hon. Johnbosco Akaegbobi.

Hon. Ofodeme, the member representing Ekwusigo Constituency while seeking permission of the House through order 74:1 which stated that;

“Every bill shall receive three readings trial to its passage. This readings shall be in three different days, unless the House by two-third majority of members agrees for its consideration”.

The Majority Leader in his submissions at the ‘Committee of the Whole’ said the amended was necessary because of the un-going activity of the newly inaugurated Agunechemba and Udo Ga-Achi.

” We want to make sure that they are going in-line with what is expected by ndi Anambra. The must be backed by law and also be checkmate in everything they are doing’. The Majority leader said

Deputy Minority Leader and member representing Ogbaru One Constituency,
Hon. Nobel Igwe said the amendments are in line with the wishes of ndi Anambra.

Hon. Igwe moved a motion for the House to adopt the amendment as a working document. He was seconded by Hon. Golden Iloh, the member representing Ihiala two constituency.
