Anambra Farmers Seek Increased Government Support Amid Food Scarcity

Farmers in Anambra State have called on government at all levels to provide robust support to farmers this farming season as a solution to the ongoing food scarcity ravaging Nigeria.
Speaking to newsmen Awka, some of the farmers, including Mr. Alfred Nkemdilim from Okpuno in Awka South Local Government Area, and Mrs. Nkechi Ozua from Amanuke in Awka North Council Area, emphasized the need for increased assistance for farmers, advocating for more financial support, improved access to quality seedlings, and enhanced security in farming communities and farm lands, to encourage large-scale cultivation.
Also speaking, the President General of Urum community in Awka North Local Government Area, Sir. Felix Oranye, while commending the Anambra State Government for its support to farmers, appealed for timely distribution of seedlings and financial aid to farmers, calling for the construction of more access roads to major farming areas to ease transportation and evacuation of farm produce.
