Anambra Governorship Candidates To Pay 50 Million Signage Campaign Fee

The Anambra State Signage & Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) has held a press briefing at its headquarters in Awka to officially unveil the Out-of-Home Promotions and Visual Campaign Guidelines for the upcoming Anambra State Governorship Election 2025.

Speaking during the press briefing on Wednesday, the MD/CEO of ANSAA, Odili Tony Ujubuonu, appreciated the media for the support they have given the Agency and the Government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo in the higher duties of making Anambra a prosperous, livable, and digitally driven homeland.

“We do not take this support for granted and, therefore, we welcome you, not just as a partner but co-travelers in the journey of building a better Anambra and a greater Nigeria.

In the same vein, Ujubuonu also appreciated all political parties for the peaceful conduct of their primary elections and for maintaining decorum across the state.

“It is our hope and prayer that this peaceful and orderly approach continues into the campaign season for the 2025 gubernatorial elections.”

“In line with the regulatory framework guiding political campaign activities in Anambra State, and following the lifting of the ban on political campaigns by the Independent and National Electoral Commission (INEC) today June 11, 2025, we wish to formally inform all political parties, the press and the general public of the out-of-home promotions and visual campaign guidelines for the 2025 gubernatorial campaign in Anambra State.

“Therefore, this briefing is both timely and essential to ensure an orderly and lawful campaign season in our dear State.

“We wish to formally inform all political parties and candidates participating in the 2025 gubernatorial election of the mandatory requirement to obtain a campaign permit from ANSAA before commencing campaign activities that require visual promotions and Rallies.

“The purpose of this permit is to ensure orderliness, prevent visual pollution, create a level playing ground for all and maintain professional standards in the use of public advertising and visual promotion space and above all, to protect our public infrastructures.

“The permit is accompanied by a statutory fee of ₦50,000,000 (Fifty Million Naira), payable to the Anambra State Government Account. This campaign fee grants the parties the right to deploy their campaign materials and activities using Posters, Public Address Systems, Branded Vehicles, Banners, Fliers, Buntings, T-shirts, Caps, Street Stroms, Rallies and Sundry in locations across the cities, villages, communities of the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

“We expect that all campaign materials intended for outdoor display by political parties and candidates, advertising agencies and advertising practitioners must be vetted by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) before they are posted.

“Please also be informed that no individual, political party, or support group is permitted to erect billboards or any advertisement structures in any part of Anambra State.

“Only advertising practitioners registered and licensed by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) are authorized to erect and manage such structures within the State, as permitted by ANSAA. We advise all political parties and candidates to work with ARCON registered practitioners to avoid sanctions or removal of unapproved materials.

“We appeal to all political parties, their supporters, and the general public to be considerate of other users of the advertising and visual promotion space in the state and refrain from defacing the campaign materials of opponents. Such actions are unacceptable and contrary to the principles of fair democratic engagement.

The MD strongly reiterated that political campaigning in Anambra must reflect the values of peace, mutual respect, and dignity, calling on all stakeholders to uphold professionalism and avoid any acts that could endanger public order or violate campaign regulations.

“We call on members of the press and all media practitioners to support ANSAA in ensuring a peaceful campaign process across the State. Let us remember: the strength of Anambra lies in our unity, discipline and shared vision for a better future. Let’s campaign responsibly and keep Anambra clean”.
