Anambra Govt Approves ₦43.7bn for Roads, Power, Schools and Hospitals

The Anambra State Government has approved contracts worth about ₦43.7 billion for key infrastructure projects across the state. The projects include new roads, school facilities, hospital upgrades, and power improvements.
The state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, confirmed the approvals in a statement on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
He explained that the decisions were reached during the 19th Anambra State Executive Council meeting held at the “Light House” in Awka on Monday.
Mefor stressed that no project was being awarded for election purposes.
He said contracts would continue to be given only on strategic and economic grounds.
Mefor also reaffirmed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s promise not to owe contractors.
Among the most notable contracts is the dualisation of the Ekwulobia–Ufuma Road with a bridge. The project, valued at ₦37.95 billion, was awarded to Lebtech Construction Ltd.
Another major project is the construction of Adili/Park Road with a spur to Nnewi’s Building Materials Market, awarded to Ferrotex Construction Company for ₦1.4 billion.
The council also approved ₦2.23 billion for the construction of School Road at Iyiowa Odekpe.
Roadways Nig Ltd will handle the work, which will feature interlocking pavement stones.
Other approved projects include landscaping, classroom construction, hospital rehabilitation, and airport upgrades.
For instance, Gill Associates Ltd secured a ₦172 million contract for external works at the VIP Lounge of the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri.
Additionally, Gold Coast Sheltera Ltd received ₦157.7 million for furniture supply at the same lounge.
The state also allocated ₦147 million for road works at the Civil Service Commission premises in Awka.
Navigator Sign Ltd will mark stop lines, pedestrian crosswalks, and yellow box traps across traffic light junctions in the state, with a contract sum of ₦124.9 million.
Sports development also received attention.
The council approved ₦927 million for the construction of volleyball and tennis courts, playgrounds, and external works at the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex.
The project will be executed by M.O. & C Int’l Ltd.
In the health sector, ₦346.5 million was approved for the supply and installation of medical equipment at the General Hospital, Enugwu-Otu Aguleri.
The contract was awarded to Minek Multi-Care Nig Ltd.
The education sector also benefited. Conifer Kunstruction Nig Ltd will handle the construction of two six-classroom blocks at Awada Secondary School, Obosi. The project is valued at ₦174.3 million.
Mefor said the projects reflect the government’s drive to boost infrastructure, improve living standards, and attract investments to the state.
