Anambra Guber: Anambra Past Women PGs Declare Support For Moghalu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, says she has forgiven those who betrayed her husband during the 2023 elections.
She explained that she bears no grudge against anyone and has chosen to embrace peace instead of resentment as reported by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM).
The disclosure is contained in her new 52-page memoir titled The Journey of Grace: Giving Thanks in All Things.
The book was released to mark her 65th birthday and reflects on her spiritual and political journey from 2021 to 2025.
It explores her growth in faith, her husband’s presidential campaign, and the lessons drawn from the 2023 election controversies.
No room for vengeance
In the book, Mrs Tinubu said she overcame feelings of betrayal by relying on the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
She noted that she chose never to avenge herself, trusting that God fights battles on behalf of His people.
According to her, when God fights your battles, there is no need to hold on to grudges.
Tinubu’s long road to the presidency
Mrs Tinubu revealed that her husband had considered running for president for over 14 years before finally declaring.
She recalled that some long-time allies withheld their support when the campaign eventually began, leaving her disappointed but not surprised.
Some allies offered indirect refusals, while others waited to see how events unfolded before taking any stance.
She concluded that human loyalty is unreliable, and only God truly rewards good deeds and commitment.
Lessons from scripture
The First Lady said her decision to forgive was inspired by biblical teachings and the example of Jesus Christ.
She cited Acts 10:38, emphasizing that doing good despite opposition is more important than seeking revenge.
She also drew wisdom from Jeremiah 17 and Hebrews 12, stressing the need to trust God instead of man.
A key turning point came from 1 Thessalonians 5:18, which urged her to give thanks in all things.
This verse inspired the subtitle of her memoir, reinforcing her belief in gratitude during both good and difficult times.
Balancing faith and politics
As an ordained Assistant Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mrs Tinubu has faced challenges mixing politics and faith.
She recounted how her husband’s choice of a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2022 caused backlash within her church community.
She described the reaction as a bitter pill but said forgiveness and reliance on scripture gave her strength.
Quoting biblical passages, she urged Christians to bless their enemies and do good to those who persecute them.
She added that true service comes when actions are done unto the Lord without expecting human rewards.
Controversial but victorious election
The 2023 general election was among Nigeria’s most divisive contests, stirring disputes at both the tribunal and the Supreme Court.
Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress candidate, won the polls with 8.79 million votes against Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
Though opposition parties challenged the result, both the tribunal and the Supreme Court eventually upheld Tinubu’s victory.
According to Mrs Tinubu, the election highlighted the frailty of human loyalty and the need to place trust in God.
Choosing peace over resentment
Mrs Tinubu said forgiveness freed her from bitterness and allowed her to focus on service to Nigeria.
She added that she now writes without expecting anything from man but only from God.
“I am at peace, doing all I can to make Nigeria better and greater,” she concluded in her memoir.
Her reflections position her political journey not as a tale of grudges but as testimony of faith and thanksgiving.
