Anambra, Lagos top list in 2025 UTME malpractice arrests — JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has named Anambra and Lagos States as the top culprits in examination malpractice during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this on Friday during a press briefing in Abuja. He revealed that a total of 80 individuals are currently being investigated for various forms of malpractice, including impersonation, biometric fraud, and the illegal use of electronic devices during the examination.

Oloyede expressed concern over the increasingly advanced methods candidates employed to cheat, citing cases of identity fraud and biometric manipulation.

He noted instances where both the actual candidate and an impersonator jointly registered fingerprints in an attempt to deceive the system.

Other infractions highlighted include double registrations and efforts to substitute legitimate candidates with impostors, all of which JAMB is actively addressing through ongoing investigations.
