Anambra Local Government Workers Afirms Commitment To Returning Soludo To Light House In Nov 8 Guber Poll

In a major show of support at the 2025 Anambra Local Government Service Commission Week, held at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka, local government workers across the state restated their unwavering commitment to the re-election of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. With the November 8 gubernatorial election approaching, they pledged to replicate the solidarity previously extended to past governors.
Delivering the welcome address, the Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Vin-Ifeanyi Ezeaka, lauded the unity and dedication of local government staff across all 21 LGAs. He emphasized their pivotal role in grassroots development and stated that the event was organized to send a clear message to the Governor “you are doing well” while openly endorsing his second-term bid.
Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Pro-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, delivered the keynote address on the theme: “Enhancing Effective Service Delivery in the Local Government System: The Solution Agenda.” He praised the workers’ coordination and urged them to embrace professionalism and innovation while preserving core Igbo values. He stressed the need to educate the younger generation on these enduring principles.
Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, Governor Charles Soludo described local government workers as “the lifeline of government,” reaffirming his administration’s commitment to their welfare. He highlighted plans to fully digitalize the local government system, stating that effective service delivery is only possible when the right tools and workforce are in place. “Everything technology, technology everywhere,” he reiterated—echoing his administration’s mantra.
Hon. Azubuike Okoye, Chairman of the Planning Committee for the Commission Week, expressed satisfaction with the event’s success. He noted that the unanimous endorsement of Governor Soludo was a result of his transformational leadership over the past three years. “Soludo is the best Governor Anambra has ever had,” Okoye stated, urging Ndi Anambra to rally more grassroots support for the Solution Governor, asserting that “there is no vacancy in the Light House for any funny opposition.”
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim, who represented Governor Soludo midway through the event, also addressed the crowd, further reinforcing the administration’s commitment to local government reform and grassroots empowerment.
One of the event’s highlights was the presentation of an award to Mrs. Rita Chike-Obuekwe, Head of Local Government Administration, Awka South LGA, and State Woman Leader. Honored for outstanding service, she expressed deep gratitude to the Commission and pledged continued dedication to mobilizing support for improved governance and service delivery.
Other dignitaries in attendance included the Mayor of Awka South, Prince Chinedu Okafor, and Rt. Capt. Casmir Nwafor of Orumba North Council Area. Both reaffirmed their support for Soludo’s re-election and expressed a renewed commitment to creating a productive and enabling environment within their respective councils.
