Anambra shall be well again with me as Governor – LP’s candidate, Moghalu as he unveils Okaro as running mate

The Governorship Candidate of Labour Party in November 8, Anambra Governorship election, Chief Dr George Moghalu has assured Ndi Anambra that the state shall be well again when he eventually emerge as Governor of the state come Nov 8, 2025.

He assured party members that they are going into Nov 8 poll to win and will achieve this together, with the exception of nobody.

Chief Moghalu stated this in Awka during his reception ceremony and unveiling of his running mate, Mrs Ifeoma Veronica Okaro to party members including all ward chairmen and secretaries as well as women leaders of the party in the state and local government levels.

He noted that the appointed time is now to salvage the deplorable condition of the state, adding that his chances of LP winning the forthcoming election is very bright.

“Power belongs to God and he gives to people at his own time. We only make ourselves available for God to use Ndi Anambra to chose government of their choice.

“I believe very strongly that the appointed time is now that God will make a statement this time around. The indices are very clear.”

He urged party faithful to strongly work with him for the greater good of all, and never to mind how to win the incumbent Governor, which accoeding to him, has been done before in Anambra, Abia among others.

On repeating Peter Obi legacy of leaving 19 billion naira of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Moghalu said he left a reasonable legacy to the satisfaction of both the staff and himself.

“The staff are very happy about it and I feel satisfied and fulfilled. I justified the confidence of the federal government reposed on me, which am eternally grateful.

“I intend to replicate that in Anambra State being in mind that Anambra is a unique state with all the potentials. What every Anambra man needs is for government to create enabling environment for them to thrive.

“The biggest challenge in town is not infrastructural deficit but because people have lost confidence in government and I must restore that confidence and trust, to serve the people with fear of God, be accountable, open and accessible to them while addressing the issue of insecurity.

On the N50m campaign permit imposed on every political party by Anambra Government, Chief Moghalu described it as desperation and manifestation of fear and a calculated attempt to stiffle opposition.

“It is a matter of people being afraid and looking at how they can stiffle opposition but we are going to respond officially.”

On the rumour that Peter Obi has left the party, he said “Our leader Mr Peter Obi is still in the party and has never entered into another party, contrary to people’s insinuations. We are going in the Guber poll on the platform of Labour Party and nothing else. Labour Party is not two, those that left us entered one-chance bus.”

While unveiling his Deputy Mrs Okaro, Moghalu emphasised that she was carefully chosen to ensure gender balanced ticket after due consultations.

He described her as a commited party member with wealth of experience, shared objective and strategic vision to change the narratives of the state.

“This confidence you have placed on me and my deputy, we will not disappoint you, fail or let you down. We have discussed and have agreed to partner together to keep to all our promises to the later,” Moghalu concluded.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs Ifeoma Okaro, thanked God for her nomination and appreciated the Governorship Candidate as well as the entire party structure for having confidence and faith in her.

She sued for the support of party faithful to enable Labour Party win the gubernatorial poll, assuring of her unfilinching loyalty to the party.

Okaro, a retired educationist and immediate past Chairman of Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), left government service in Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) Onitsha in 2014 and currently Heads Education Directorate, Anglican Communion.

She hails from Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the Party, Ugochukwu Emeh, noted that the party’s flag bearer has endeared himself to the people of the state with his track record, integrity and commitment to deliver on his promises.###
