…The most superior reason why am contesting this election is to end corruption.
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)
candidate for the August 16th 2025 Anambra South Senatorial By-election,
Barr. Peter Ekwueme says there will be ‘Yearly Open Accounting for Transparency’ if elected.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the Senatorial Candidate stated this while fielding questions from the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, in Awka, on Thursday August 7th 2025.
The NNPP candidate who is the son of Late Alex Ekwueme, maintained that, if voted into the Senate, there will be no more diversion of money.
“I will account for every kobo of ndi Anambra South to you every year. I will provide healthcare facilities for our elders in all the seven local government areas, including youths empowerment programs. There will be measurable infrastructural and human capital development.
” Our people dont hold politicians to account, but am here to change the narrative, that is why am contesting under
NNPP. Its a party with national presence and aliens with my ideology.
” Changing the society and fighting corruption is a very big task but am bold enough to try.
” The most superior reason why am contesting this election is to end corruption. Me and my family do not have a plan to migrate abroad, i have to do anything in my power to save my zone and the society at large.
” The figures of every project and empowerment including the company and the community that benefited will be stated clearly. It will continue every year and it is my hope that when i succeed in doing that, my successor and other zones will adopt same procedure.
“It is my intention, to do what no politician has ever done. I intend to train 1000 years every year on I.T skills.
” When you receive money meant for other people and spend it on yourself, you are a thief. The moment i win this election, i will be going into the National Assembly with an accountant and an editor.
” The youths lacks ‘life coaching’. They are confused and needs guidance. Am a serious advocate for youths development.
” My Senatorial ambition is born ou of pure passion. The old politicians dont like my narrative, and when i sort for sponsorship, it was difficult. But i would rather stay on the side of the people and loose the election than stay with the elites and win’. Ekwueme remarked.
Earlier the Chairman of NUJ in Anambra, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, PhD, in his speech maintained that the media remained a genuine tool for people to take their message directly to the grassroots across the state.
Dr. Odogwu encouraged journalists to always adhere to the ethics of the profession by being upright and unbiased in their reportage of events.
