Anti-EndSARS Activist Yunusa Yusuf Dies During Sex Romp

Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, popularly known as Buhun Barkonun, a vocal critic of the #EndSARS protests, has died under controversial circumstances at a hotel in Abuja.

Yusuf, 47, who served as the Senior Special Assistant on Community Development to Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), reportedly checked into a hotel in the Karu-Jikwoyi area on Tuesday, September 8, 2025.

Witnesses said he lodged with a woman identified as Ruth, consumed large amounts of alcohol, but refused food.

His health reportedly worsened, and Ruth bought him an energy drink on the morning of his death. Shortly after consuming it, Yusuf collapsed into a coma.

Hotel staff and Ruth rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors confirmed him dead on arrival. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Yusuf was well known in Abuja as one of the strongest voices against the #EndSARS movement, which erupted in 2020 to demand the disbandment of the police unit notorious for brutality.

In a strongly worded letter to then-Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, he called on authorities to disperse protesters blocking roads in the Federal Capital Territory.

He argued that the demonstrations disrupted economic activities, starved daily wage earners of income, and threatened public order.

In public statements, Yusuf warned that the protests had been hijacked and could spiral into violence like past insurgencies.

He even gave protesters a 48-hour ultimatum to vacate Abuja roads, insisting that their right to assemble should not infringe on others’ freedom of movement.

Following his sudden death, Nigerians have reacted sharply on social media.

Some critics mocked him, recalling his harsh stance against protesters. Others expressed shock at the circumstances of his passing.

Meanwhile, AMAC Chairman Christopher Zakka Maikalangu described Yusuf as a dedicated public servant and “a vital bridge builder” in community development.

In a statement, he extended condolences to Yusuf’s family, associates, and FCT residents, calling his death “an immense loss.”

A wake will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at ECWA Church, Kpaduma 1, followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
