Antony trims his summer options to two after making clear decision

Manchester United winger Antony has reportedly made a major decision on his future after reviving his career at Real Betis.

The Brazilian only produced 17 direct goal contributions during two and a half seasons at Old Trafford, but has already made 11 G/A since joining the Andalusian club on loan in January. This includes some astonishing strikes that earned him plaudits in Spain. His performances have been described as magical.

According to Eldesmarque, Antony has decided he wants to stay in Spain beyond the current campaign. The 25-year-old has no desire to return to the Premier League where he struggled to produce his best football.

This is certainly delightful news for Betis who are desperate to keep the flamboyant star who has been the toast of the town since his mid-season arrival.

However, the source believes the Green-and-White club will have to raise some funds, as the player is currently valued at €40-50 million.

It should be noted that Atletico Madrid have also emerged as an alternative destination in recent days. Diego Simeone has reportedly asked the management to pursue the revitalised star who took LaLiga by storm since his arrival at Betis.

Real Betis & Atletico Madrid emerge as main options for Antony

The Spanish capital side might have the upper hand over Betis. After all, the Colchoneros have larger financial means, and have already guaranteed their place in next season’s edition of the Champions League, while Betis are still involved in a razor-tight race with Villarreal for fifth place.

Nevertheless, Relevo (via Football Espana) claims that Betis have been making some progress in their talks with the Red Devils.

The source believes that United are hoping to sell Antony outright, but if they don’t receive satisfying offers, they would be open to sending the player on another loan spell.

Despite his sensational exploits on Spanish soil, the Brazil international doesn’t have a place in Ruben Amorim’s plans. INEOS will be looking to offload him alongside fellow outcasts Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, and make room for new arrivals.
