Apple in Talks to Power Siri with Google’s Gemini AI

Apple is reportedly in advanced discussions with Google to integrate its Gemini AI model into a revamped version of Siri, sources tell Bloomberg News, citing a Reuters report. The move would mark a major shift, as Apple considers replacing its in-house AI models with Google’s technology.

Though Apple is still weeks away from making a final decision, interest in leveraging external AI reflects its lag behind competitors like Google and Samsung in deploying generative AI features across devices. Earlier efforts to overhaul Siri—aimed at allowing full voice control and richer personal context—were delayed by engineering setbacks and missed their initial spring release window.

Market response followed swiftly: Alphabet’s stock rose 3.7%, while Apple’s gained 1.6% during afternoon trading, indicating investor optimism over the potential AI collaboration.

Previously, Apple had explored partnerships with other AI leaders, including Anthropic and OpenAI, weighing options like integrating Claude or ChatGPT into future Siri versions.

If finalized, the deal could reshape how iPhone users interact with Siri, bringing more sophisticated AI capabilities into Apple’s ecosystem—possibly closing the gap in the voice assistant race.
