Army Lt. Colonel Abducted from Lodge in Delta, Military Launches Rescue Operation

An Army lieutenant colonel, known only as Josiah, was kidnapped at gunpoint from his lodge in Bomadi, Delta State, in the early hours of Sunday, prompting a swift security response.

After attending a wedding ceremony in the nearby Kpakiama community over the weekend, Lt. Colonel Josiah retired to his lodge in Bomadi. Armed assailants stormed the premises between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., ransacked rooms, seized phones from other lodgers, and forcibly abducted the officer, firing shots as they escaped. Blood was reportedly left at the scene.

A Joint Task Force (JTF) from the Bomadi military division immediately deployed troops to patrol Bomadi and emerging surrounding communities. The kidnappers’ vehicle was found abandoned the next day in Tuomo community along the Tuomo–Ogbobagbene–Tamigbe–Torugbene–Ojobo road and has since been taken to the Bomadi-Overside JTF base for investigation.

The abduction has caused panic among residents, who fear increased aggression or instability. Local leaders remain vigilant as the search intensifies.
