Ayra Starr Worries “Hot Body” Trend Could Spark Mami Water Allegations

Nigerian music star Ayra Starr has expressed concern over potential negative backlash for her new social media trend, “Hot Body”. The singer fears that the provocative dance videos could ignite conspiracy theories linking her to the supernatural.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ayra Starr cautioned,
“I better not get any mami water allegation because of this hot body video.”
This new trend marks her first single release under Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. The “Hot Body” campaign features young women energetically dancing and showcasing their figures, all set to the track’s infectious beat.
However, some critics have voiced disapproval. Singer Jaywon publicly questioned Ayra Starr’s fashion choices, asking if she lacked parental guidance.
The artiste’s anxieties aren’t unfounded—her labelmate Rema faced backlash in 2023 for allegedly referencing satanic symbolism during a performance at London’s O2 Arena. Rema later clarified that his stage props were inspired by Benin cultural artifacts, including the Queen Idia mask, and firmly denied all Illuminati associations.
