BREAKING: 12 inmates escape from Kogi prison

Over 12 inmates in the wee hours of Monday, escaped from the Federal Correctional Centre in Koton-Karfe, Kogi State.
Kingsley Fanwo, Kogi State Information Commissioner, who confirmed the development, described it as “unfortunate” and assured the general public that the government and security agencies are working to prevent a recurrence.
Meanwhile, authorities have already re-arrested one of the escapees, while investigations are ongoing to determine how the inmates managed to break out without causing structural damage.

Fanwo hinted at the possibility of internal sabotage and called for a thorough probe into the incident.
Governor Usman Ododo has directed security agencies to tighten measures to prevent further security breaches.
Also, residents have been urged to report any suspicious individuals, as those found harboring escapees will face legal consequences.
“There is no cause for panic,” Fanwo assured, stressing that the government remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
