BREAKING: APC Deputy Chairman Dies After Brief Illness

(DDM) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Deputy Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Yakubu Barde.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Barde passed away on Tuesday in Lafia after what family sources described as a brief illness.
The late politician will be laid to rest in his hometown, Wamba, in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
Confirming the development, the APC State Secretary, Chief Otaru Douglas, described Barde’s passing as a devastating blow to the ruling party and the entire people of Nasarawa State.
Douglas noted that Barde was not only a party leader but also a bridge-builder whose leadership style united different political blocs within the state.
Before becoming Deputy Chairman of the APC in Nasarawa, Barde served as the Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman of Wamba Local Government Area during the administration of former Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
He was widely regarded as a grassroots politician with a deep connection to his people and an unwavering commitment to community development.
Political observers in the state described him as one of the stabilizing forces in the APC, particularly in a region where political rivalry has often threatened party cohesion.
His sudden death comes at a time the ruling party is preparing for crucial electoral contests, including local government and governorship elections in the state.
Party faithful expressed concern that his absence would create a vacuum in the leadership structure of the APC in Nasarawa.
Tributes have since poured in from friends, colleagues, and political associates who praised his humility, dedication, and consistency in party affairs.
Community leaders in Wamba also described him as a philanthropist who quietly supported education and healthcare projects in his constituency.
Beyond politics, Barde was known for his religious devotion and was often seen at Islamic gatherings, promoting peace and unity among followers.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Muslim community in Ondo State is mourning the death of Alhaji Ahmad Oladoke Aladesawe, Chief Imam of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas.
Aladesawe, aged 91, died on Monday evening at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, according to an announcement by Alhaji Kamorudeen Ishola, a respected Muslim leader in the town.
He was described as a revered Islamic scholar who dedicated his long life to the growth and spread of Islam in Nigeria.
Both deaths mark significant losses to political and religious communities in Nigeria, underlining the fragility of leadership and the legacies left behind.
