BREAKING: Coalition orders Obi to quit Labour Party, move fully to ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition has ordered all its members to immediately resign from their respective political parties and fully identify with the ADC, in what appears to be a decisive push toward consolidating opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The directive, issued during a closed-door meeting of coalition leaders in Abuja yesterday, directly affects frontline opposition figures such as Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Senator Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
For Peter Obi in particular, this development will mark a turning point. The former Labour party presidential candidate, has now been asked to make a clear choice: move fully into the ADC structure or remain committed to the LP.
Speaking after the meeting, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, also confirmed that the coalition had dropped all considerations regarding the proposed African Democratic Alliance (ADA).
“The Coalition has rested everything concerning the ADA. That means we are not interested in the registration or otherwise of the association,” Abdullahi stated.
The coalition further resolved that any aspirant who emerges victorious in the ADC primaries will be supported by other contestants, with a binding agreement that no member will pull out of the arrangement.
With this directive, the time for political indecision appears over. For Obi, the options are now clear: embrace the ADC project fully or stay rooted in the Labour Party.
