Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Israeli military officials claimed responsibility, saying the assault was aimed at senior Hamas leaders in the Gulf nation.
Witnesses reported plumes of smoke rising over areas near diplomatic compounds, fueling fears of heavy civilian and international fallout.
The Israeli army announced it had carried out an assassination attempt against Hamas negotiators who were holding discussions in Doha.
According to a Hamas source who spoke to Al Jazeera, the strike directly targeted the group’s delegation reviewing the latest ceasefire plan from Washington.
This development occurred during tense negotiations over a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal intended to de-escalate the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry swiftly condemned the attack, describing it as a “criminal act” and a blatant violation of international law.
Officials in Doha stressed that the bombing endangered both Qatari citizens and the international community residing within the capital.
Al Jazeera correspondent Suhaib al-Assa reported that the strike zone was a residential neighborhood, not an isolated military or desert site.
He explained that security teams had cordoned off the area, focusing on assessing structural damage and searching for possible casualties.
“The security procedures are very complex because this is an extremely sensitive site,” al-Assa noted during his live report.
The presence of multiple embassies in the affected area further raised concerns about diplomatic fallout and international security risks.
