BREAKING: Moghalu vows end of Agbero rule, illegal levies in Anambra

(DDM) – Labour Party governorship candidate, Chief Dr. George Moghalu, has launched a blistering attack on Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, following the damning verdict of the 2025 State Performance Index released by Phillips Consulting Limited (PCL).

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Anambra recorded poor rankings across several key indicators, including education, infrastructure, healthcare, and security, prompting Moghalu to describe the index as “a mirror that exposes the gulf between propaganda and reality.”

According to the PCL report, Anambra placed 33rd in functional basic educational facilities, a position Moghalu said painfully reveals the collapse of a sector that once stood as the pride of the East.

“Anambra used to top national academic competitions because previous administrations invested massively in education.

Today, the absence of basic facilities has dragged us to the bottom. This is tragic,” he lamented.

On infrastructure, the index ranked the state 33rd in capital expenditure per capita, indicating limited reinvestment in public projects.

Moghalu accused Soludo’s government of prioritizing “cosmetic facelifts over meaningful development,” adding that repainting old buildings and renaming them as “Solution Centers” cannot address deep-rooted infrastructural decay.

The PCL scorecard also placed Anambra 31st in quality of roads. Moghalu said this reflects daily experiences of residents who navigate collapsing highways and poorly constructed streets.

“Most of Soludo’s roads are washed away within months because they are built with substandard materials and without proper drainage.

These are not durable roads; they are temporary showpieces,” he stated.

Healthcare and environmental services also suffered low marks, with the state ranking 30th in both healthcare delivery and environmental cleanliness.

Moghalu argued that poor investments in hospitals and waste management systems continue to endanger public health.

On economic opportunities, Anambra was ranked 32nd in government support for local businesses.

Moghalu faulted the collapse of the One Youth, Two Skills programme, which he said abandoned thousands of young people without promised start-up funds.

“True empowerment requires real funding and mentorship, not empty slogans,” he stressed.

Most alarming, however, was Anambra’s position at 36th in security of lives and property, effectively branding the state a “red zone.”

Moghalu said this confirms widespread fears that insecurity has worsened under Soludo, with sit-at-home orders, kidnappings, and violent attacks crippling economic life.

DDM notes that Anambra has long prided itself as the commercial heartbeat of the Southeast, with bustling trade in Onitsha and Nnewi fueling national commerce.

However, persistent insecurity, rising taxation, and infrastructural neglect have driven investors away, leaving traders and small businesses struggling.

Moghalu insisted that the PCL report is not an opposition stunt but an independent verdict on poor governance. “Anambra people are unsafe, underserved, and abandoned.

What we need is massive investment in infrastructure, functional schools, quality healthcare, strong support for businesses, and, above all, a security strategy that restores peace. Governance is about results, not propaganda,” he declared.

He concluded by urging Ndi Anambra to embrace change in the forthcoming governorship election. “Soludo has lost ideas. It is time for a man with vision, energy, and proven competence to step in and save our state,” he said.
