Brymo Criticizes Burna Boy, Davido Over Remixes with Emerging Artists

Nigerian singer, Olawale Ashimi, popularly known as Brymo, has called out mainstream Afrobeats stars for what he described as an unhealthy trend in the music industry.
In a post shared on his Instagram story, the singer urged top artists such as Burna Boy, Davido and others to stop featuring on every hit song remix released by upcoming acts.
According to him, the practice does not genuinely help rising musicians but instead projects established stars as seeking relevance through the works of less experienced colleagues.
“Dear Nigerian mainstream A-listers… Burna, Davido and Co… stop jumping on every hit song in a remix, especially releases by newer acts. Let other artistes find their own way. The pretending to be helping them reach higher is a ridiculous watch,” Brymo wrote.
He added that the move is “vile” and discourages originality, stressing that young artists should be allowed to grow and establish their own unique paths in the industry.
Brymo’s comments have stirred debate among music lovers, with some supporting his stance while others argue that collaborations between rising and established stars remain an important part of Afrobeats’ global growth.
