Burkina Faso Scraps Visa Fees for All African Travellers in Pan-Africa Move

Burkina Faso’s military government has abolished visa fees for all African citizens, a policy change announced Thursday aimed at strengthening regional integration, boosting tourism, and fulfilling Pan-African ideals.
Security Minister Mahamadou Sana revealed the decision after a cabinet meeting chaired by junta leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré, stipulating that while visa fees are being removed, travelers from other African countries will still need to complete an online application subject to approval.
The move aligns Burkina Faso with several other African nations that recently eased visa restrictions to foster freer movement across the continent. Officials say the policy aims to promote cultural exchange, increase tourism revenue, and improve international visibility amidst efforts to increase regional cooperation. (turn0search2, turn0search1)
