Can CHANGE come without Peter Obi?

30 August 2025
Although it is still some time away, the media and influencers are hyping up Nigerians, getting their emotions ready for 2027 National Elections. So, some on social media are being urged to defend their votes with their lives eg “rig and die”. The Obidient Movement has a GO-MERD (Get Organised – Make Election Rigging Difficult) Campaign and quoting from a Guardian Nigeria News article, of 16 August 2025 titled, “Obidient Movement launches campaign to check election rigging in 2027”, that requires: “deploying one million trained ‘vote defenders’… mounting ‘proactive resistance’ against any attempt to subvert the people’s will.” We know how emotionally-led and desperate some voters can be and several commentators have already raised alarm that the way things are going, massive blood shedding is guaranteed for 2027 Elections.
In 2023, when it was evident that Peter Obi had won the elections why didn’t the Obidients ignore Obi’s request for a Court Solution, but just go ahead and lay down their lives and be the sacrificial offering that would put Peter Obi on Nigeria’s throne? At that time, it was so clear that the minimum 25% votes in FCT requirement had not been met by Tinubu. So, is it NOW, now that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and INEC would ensure that whether the 25% minimum has been re-interpreted or not, voting would register a huge landslide for APC in the FCT area, that Obidients will begin to convulse and agitate, and be willing to be a blood sacrifice? For whose benefit? Even if Obidients want to die for 2027 Elections, HOW MANY of them need to exit this life before Peter Obi can become President? Will one day of such a sacrifice be enough? Or one week? Or one month? Or one year? If you are a supporter of Peter Obi and the 2027 Elections are a do-or-die event for you, then you MUST have an answer for these questions since it is you who wants to meet your Heavenly Maker, and you need to make sure that your sacrifice is effective and not just be a complete waste of your life. (Also, what are the chances that the political class including Peter Obi, plus the pastors and priests who will push you to “Get your PVC!” for those violence-guaranteed elections, will themselves put their lives or their children’s lives out for this cause?)
Another thing has happened since those untenable 2023 Elections that brought on the current Tinubu Interregnum. A number of those who had devotedly supported Peter Obi will no longer do so. They may stay away from those Elections, or choose another candidate to support. This loss of followers is Peter Obi’s own doing. In October 2024 for the 90th birthday of former Military Head of State Yakubu Gowon, Peter Obi, an Igbo man, congratulated Gowon who had presided over the Biafra Genocide of 1967-1970 that killed up to 5 million Easterners many being Igbo. By so doing, Peter Obi belittled and downgraded the lives of Igbo and of other indigenous Ethnic Nations of the East even to the hearing of the international community. From news reports at that time, Peter Obi wrote about: “moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation” and “the tragedy of revenge”. That genocidal war was a Holocaust. To compare, Nazi leaders faced Nuremberg Trials and nobody called that “revenge”, it was justice being carried out for the victims. Then after it (and after years passed), Israel and Germany could work towards some kind of “reconciliation”. Therefore, Peter Obi’s revealed sentiments towards Biafra, made many Igbo and others reject him as potential presidential/leadership material.
The purpose of this message is to inform Nigerians that Change is possible for those who do not want themselves or others to lose their lives for 2027 Elections; and for those who are sad that there may be no useful candidate to vote for. This Change is possible but it is based on a different conclusion as to the cause of Nigeria’s dysfunction. All those politicians and their Helpers looking towards Elections claim that Nigeria’s core problem is one of “leadership”. However, a different judgement is that the neocolonial, imposed 1999 Constitution, a known Forgery, codifies for a handicapping and regression-producing constitutional arrangement so Nigeria’s core problem is a STRUCTURAL one. Thus, Change comes when “we the peoples” terminate that 1999 Constitution and at the same time “we the peoples” renegotiate a fresh constitutional arrangement. The power and the responsibility for Change becomes that of “we the peoples” and is not in the hands of any politician or group of them. The method to get this “we the peoples”-led Change is known: it is by a time-bound period of Transitioning for Constitutional Reconstruction instead of preparing for 2027 National Elections that will renew the life of the 1999 Constitution. The Strategy Action is that Nigerians Reject the 1999 Constitution and therefore Demand that 2027 National Elections be suspended so as to have immediate Transitioning now in 2025. NINAS has already done much of the needed International Law-mandated and globally acceptable work on behalf of “we the peoples” so Transitioning could be done within 2 years or even less. The outcome would be determined by “we the peoples” (since they have Sovereignty) and would be a safe and working fresh Union as either a Federation, or Confederation, or even independent Successor Countries (Ethnic Nations in formations/blocs of their choosing).
To conclude, Change means to Rebuild, to Reconstruct. THAT is what “we the peoples” of Nigeria will bring about by Reconstructing the constitutional arrangement of their Union to what they want, doing so the proper way.
Change is possible without Peter Obi.
Here is a poster explaining the rationale and needed task for “we the peoples” of Nigeria to bring about Change.
