Celebration of new Yam Festivals attracts bountiful blessings to Alor Community: Igwe Okonkwo

HRM Igwe Markanthony Eribe Okonkwo, the Anambra state government recognized traditional ruler of Alor Community Idemili south LGA and the home town of Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige the former governor of Anambra State and the immediate Federal Minister of Labour, Under the regime of late president Muhammed Buhari, has posited that the town annual New yam celebration which is marked by the monarch ceremonial breaking and eating of new yam before anybody in the community is significant to Citizens of the Community because of abundant blessings that follows citizens immediately after each Festival.
Stating this while embarking on this year 2005 royal traditional prayers, blessing, breaking and eating of new yam to kickstart the general eating of new yams in the Community held in his palace in Alor, Idemili south LGA Last week, Igwe Okonkwo noted that it is on record that anytime after the festival in the town that uncommon Miracles, blessings, like healing of difficult illnesses, breaking of chains of poverty, opening up of barren Wombs, Peaceful Settlement of acrimonious land disputes, family quarrels, Marriage booms as well as all manners of good things etc do happen to the people and in the entire town. Saying that these signs are as a result of God approval of the ancient festival,he stated that he is optimistic that this year ceremony will attract more blessings than the previous ones
He called his people to embrace the festival adding that it is not fetish.
While expressing happiness on how the people of the community are embracing agriculture, he prayed for a bountiful harvest and urged citizens of the community to invest more in agriculture especially youths as well as embraced peace. He stated, “I am appealing to all of us to be law abiding, obey the government of the day, l am urging everyone in Alor to think of what they will do for our community, let us drop acrimonious and pursue love of one another, let us avoid anything that will divide us, let us understand that we are born of one parent.”
Also speaking, Mrs. Amaka Obi, the Mayor of Idemili South LGA who stormed the festival with almost all of her staffs, praised the monarch for good conduct and fatherly advice which she noted has been guiding the local government to excel.
While saying that she will not relent in partnering with well-meaning royal fathers in the local government like himself, she showered praises on the monarch for the noble ways he is leading the town and his synergy with the local government and state government.
On his Part, High chief Bar. Sir Ifeanyichukwu Enendu a Lagos base Lawyer and a Prominent member of Igwe Alor Cabinet who also is a member of the Igwe Legal team extoled qualities of the young Igwe and
noted that the Community has been witnessing steady Progress and Peace Since the Installation of the Igwe, he explained that it has been Observed by Indigenes of the Community that anytime the Igwe conducts the traditional breaking and eating of new yam to kick off eating of yams in the community that bountiful blessings follws it hence the Importance every Indigenes attached to the Festivals.
Speaking immediately after receiving an award and a chieftaincy tittle with his wife during the Festival, Bar. Edwin Okwuchukwu Udeagwa who recieved the title of Okwuluora I of Alor told newsmen that he was highly elated on been recognized by his Community adding that it is not easy to be recognized by in the community adding that the title will motivate him to bring out his best and energy to continue serving his people and humanity in general as well as Motivate youths and others in his Community to Serve. humanity in general.
