Chelsea in chaos as Sanchez red card stands against United

Kwara United’s Media Officer, Ismail Ayodeji, has called on Nigerians living in Accra to troop to the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday and stand solidly behind the Harmony Boys as they take on Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko, in their CAF Confederation Cup opener.

Speaking on an Accra-based radio station, Ayodeji said the support of Nigerians in Ghana could tilt the balance in what promises to be a thrilling encounter, insisting that Kwara United should not be written off despite Kotoko’s rich pedigree and massive fan base.

“Kwara United is mentally and physically ready for the task ahead. We know Asante Kotoko is a strong side with history and a huge following here in Ghana, but our players are determined to fight for the maximum points. With the backing of our Nigerian brothers and sisters in the stands, we are confident of pulling off a positive result,” Ayodeji said.

He stressed that the Ilorin-based side has undergone intense preparations, technically and tactically, underlining their hunger to make a bold statement on the continental stage.

Football watchers across Nigeria and Ghana have cautioned that Kotoko must take Kwara United seriously.

The Nigerian side, nicknamed the Harmony Boys, have been steadily growing in strength under the support of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has invested in player welfare, facilities, and competitive exposure.

The club recently proved their mettle with disciplined performances in domestic competitions and solid build-up games, showing resilience that makes them no pushovers.

Analysts note that while Kotoko boasts passionate fans and a strong home advantage, Kwara United’s mix of youthful energy, experienced campaigners, and the hunger to prove themselves in Africa could make them dangerous opponents.

Nigerian clubs, historically, have a knack for rising to the occasion against Ghanaian sides, and Kwara United will be eager to add their name to that rivalry.

The showdown is scheduled for Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Accra Sports Stadium. With Nigerians in Accra expected to answer Ayodeji’s call, the Harmony Boys are counting on both national pride and continental ambition to inspire a performance that will remind Africa that they are not a team to be underrated.
