Created by scientists at Tsinghua University, one of China’s top academic institutions, this groundbreaking platform may revolutionize the future of medicine. Agent Hospital is not a brick-and-mortar hospital with beds, patients, and doctors it’s an entirely virtual medical system run entirely on artificial intelligence. With 14 AI physicians and four AI nurses, it’s capable of diagnosing, treating, and training at a scale no human medical staff could possibly match.

Unlike other hospitals, Agent Hospital exists in a simulated digital space, where sophisticated AI agents engage with virtual patients. These computer programs are fueled by big language models (LLMs), the same technology that powers the world’s most advanced chatbots and smart assistants. The hospital can handle as many as 10,000 cases of medicine in mere days, something that would take years for a group of human physicians. Not only is it quick, but it’s also extremely accurate with a 93.06% accuracy rate on the MedQA dataset, which is designed to measure medical question-answering ability.

One of the advantages of Agent Hospital is that it can treat 3,000 virtual patients on a daily basis, which demonstrates how AI can manage an enormous workload in an efficient manner.
