Dangiwa reaffirms support for QSRBN to enhance Nigeria’s housing sector

ABUJA, NIGERIA – April 16, 2025 – Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN). This affirmation occurred during a courtesy visit by Board members at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja.
Dangiwa recognized the QSRBN’s essential role in boosting efficiency and accountability in Nigeria’s housing and construction sector.
He emphasized that the expertise of quantity surveyors in cost control and procurement auditing is crucial for implementing the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Dangiwa stated, “As we actively pursue the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda, your skills in cost control and contract administration are vital.”
He highlighted the urgent need for fiscal discipline and transparency in construction projects to ensure success.
Furthermore, the Minister praised the Board for its professionalism and urged members to prioritize regulatory oversight. He stressed the importance of proper training and licensing for professionals, which is crucial for eliminating waste and corruption within the built environment.
Dangiwa pointed out the QSRBN’s pivotal role in developing procurement standards and cost estimation methods that align with international best practices. He expressed confidence that the Board’s contributions would enhance quality assurance on project sites nationwide.
Addressing concerns from QSRBN President QS. Obafemi Onashile, Dangiwa assured the Board that funding and land recovery issues would be addressed. He also promised to consider establishing a Building and Engineering Construction Commission to improve regulatory oversight.
The meeting concluded with an invitation for Minister Dangiwa to chair the QSRBN’s 2025 annual assembly on May 14-15.
This collaboration will greatly enhance Nigeria’s housing and construction sector. Consequently, it will address the needs of the growing population while adhering to international standards.
