De Bruyne Says Return to Man City in Champions League Will Feel ‘Strange’

Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne described his upcoming return to the Etihad Stadium as a member of his new club, Napoli, as “strange,” in remarks ahead of Belgium’s World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan.
The 34-year-old former Manchester City star, whose contract wasn’t renewed last season, joined Napoli and has played just two league games under coach Antonio Conte. He noted a clear difference in the style of play, calling Serie A “more tactical” with a slower tempo compared to his time under Pep Guardiola.
De Bruyne acknowledged that the Champions League group opener against his former side on September 18 will carry an emotional charge. “City is my club and that’s not going to change,” he stated.
