Decomposed Body Found Inside Car at Nat’l Assembly – Police Launch Investigation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation after a decomposed body of a 55-year-old man was discovered inside a vehicle parked at the annex gate of the National Assembly complex on Sunday morning.

Authorities identified the deceased as Gaddafi Iwar, a Tiv man believed to be a labourer at a nearby construction site. The body was found in a red Peugeot 406 bearing registration number BWR-577 BF at around 9:00 a.m

The remains were initially taken to the National Assembly Clinic and subsequently transferred to Asokoro General Hospital. However, due to the advanced state of decomposition, the hospital declined to accept the body.

Officials from the Tiv community, along with youth leaders, later transported the remains to Gbawu Village, located between Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Kuje Area Council, for burial to mitigate health risks.

Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the commencement of a discreet investigation, with directives to the Divisional Police Officer at the National Assembly Division to identify the deceased and establish the circumstances of his death.
