Deeney believes ‘nasty’ Liam Delap would be perfect Man Utd signing

Manchester United and Liam Delap would be a match made in heaven, according to retired Premier League striker, Troy Deeney.
The Red Devils are currently reflecting on their options on the market, as they look to bolster their squad with one or two new attackers capable of raising the quality of the department.
Naturally, the Premier League giants are being linked with some of the biggest names on the market, including Ruben Amorim’s former Sporting CP ally, Viktor Gyokeres, and Napoli wantaway bomber, Victor Osimhen.
Nevertheless, these two profiles might prove too costly for United, especially if they fail to secure Champions League football next season. Therefore, INEOS are also monitoring alternative profiles who would be more affordable, and chief among them is Delap.
Despite Ipswich Town’s struggles this season, the 22-year-old still managed to catch the eye with his impressive displays up front. He has thus far scored 12 goals in 30 Premier League appearances.
The Winchester native is reportedly climbing his way up United’s shortlist. Moreover, it has been recently revealed that Ipswich’s imminent relegation will reduce the striker’s release clause to £30 million, making him more affordable.

While the Man City youth product has also attracted the interest of several other EPL clubs, Deeney insists Delap and Man Utd would be perfect for each other.
“He has to play [to get into England squad] right?” argued the former Watford striker during his appreance on TalkSPORT.
“So his next step would be, if I was advising him would be that with Man United it’s nailed on. If he went to Man United, he’d start every week. He’d instantly make them better.”
Deeney even went on to compare Delap’s mentality to some of the greatest forwards in the history of the Premier League.
“You need to have a nasty streak as a striker. Everyone looks at Ian Wright, Thierry Henry, Wayne Rooney – these nice guys when they’re talking about football,” Deeney said.
“Watch them play. There’s a streak in there because they want to score. They want to win, any striker that’s on there has to have this element of nastiness to get it done.”
Alan Shearer had also argued that Delap would be a certain upgrade on United’s current options in attack, namely Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
