EFCC arrests 40 suspected internet fraudsters in Niger state

Kaduna, Nigeria – April 17, 2025 – The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 40 suspected internet fraudsters in Niger State. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives conducted a successful operation in Bida and Minna Local Government Areas. Consequently, the suspects were apprehended for their alleged involvement in various online scams.
During the raid, EFCC officials seized multiple items linked to fraudulent activities. Notably, they recovered three vehicles, eight power generating sets, and a Hisense air conditioner. Additionally, two power stabilizers, 10 motorcycles, and eight laptop computers were confiscated. Furthermore, four Bluetooth speakers and 60 Android phones were found in their possession.
Moreover, the operatives discovered several fetish items, raising suspicions of ritualistic practices. Among these were three calabashes with feathers, traditionally made soap and sponge, and a bottle of hot drink. Similarly, 20 cowries, a waist bead, and four women’s underwear were also recovered. These findings suggest possible supernatural elements in their fraudulent schemes.

Currently, the suspects remain in EFCC custody pending further investigation. The commission has assured the public that charges will be filed soon.
