Subsequently, officials repatriated them alongside 207 trafficking victims on April 25, 2025.

During the handover, NAPTIP’s Zonal Commander, Comfort Agboko, explained the suspects’ alleged crimes.

“Investigations show they participated in romance scams, phishing, and fraudulent transactions,” she said.

Additionally, she linked some activities to broader cybercrime networks.

Moreover, Agboko praised the collaboration between NAPTIP and the EFCC, calling it vital in combating trafficking and cybercrime.

She referenced a 2022 case where four fraudsters were convicted, highlighting past successes.

Meanwhile, EFCC’s acting Zonal Director, Ahmed Ghali, vowed to pursue justice rigorously.

“We will investigate thoroughly and ensure accountability,” he asserted.

His statement reinforced the EFCC’s commitment to dismantling cybercrime operations.

Furthermore, the EFCC seized critical evidence, including 276 laptops, 118 phones, and multiple identification documents.

These items will aid the investigation and strengthen the case against the suspects.

As cybercrime grows more sophisticated, the EFCC’s actions aim to restore public trust.

The agency emphasizes the need for vigilance and urges citizens to report suspicious online activities promptly.

Ultimately, this case underscores the ongoing battle against financial crimes.

By holding perpetrators accountable, the EFCC seeks to safeguard Nigerians from the escalating threats of internet fraud.
