The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI) have formed a strategic partnership to enhance digital skills among Nigerian youths.

Specifically, this collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Olukoyede stressed the importance of youth empowerment in combating corruption and financial crimes.

He asserted that preventive measures, such as skill acquisition, are crucial for addressing root causes.

“No single agency can tackle this challenge alone,” he stated.

“While our mandate focuses on prosecution, prevention is equally vital.

This MoU aligns with our agenda, and we will implement it immediately to provide youths with legitimate opportunities.”

Furthermore, Olukoyede warned that idle youths are more likely to engage in cybercrime. “Basic skills enable meaningful societal contributions,” he emphasized.

“We are also establishing a Research Institute with an ICT and Cyber Security Centre to support youth empowerment.” Additionally, he cautioned against internet fraud, stating, Crime does not pay.

Even with fines, ex-convicts face lasting consequences.”

Meanwhile, Professor Adedoja explained that TCTI’s initiative aims to foster digital literacy for national development.

“We drew inspiration from successful global models where skilled youths drive progress,” he said.

Moreover, he highlighted the psychological and rehabilitative benefits of the partnership.

“This collaboration will reshape public perception of EFCC as a youth-focused agency,” he added.

Ultimately, this partnership marks a significant step in reducing unemployment and promoting innovation.

By equipping youths with digital skills, the initiative redirects their potential toward national growth while minimizing criminal tendencies. Consequently, it fosters a productive and law-abiding generation, strengthening Nigeria’s economic future.
