Ekwunife Apologises To Soludo Amidst Bitter War Of Words

The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has apologised to the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife, Nonye Soludo, in the aftermath of the bitter war of words that erupted between the senator and the state’s first family.
The war of words was ignited after Governor Soludo accused Senator Ekwunife of holding a fake PhD degree.
Ekwunife fanned the flames of the verbal exchange by dragging Soludo’s wife into the dispute with claims of infidelity.
Mrs. Soludo, on her part, rejected the allegation, challenging both a fidelity test and a paternity test for all their children.
Following the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians, however, Ekwunife apologised to the first family.
This was contained in a press statement signed on her behalf by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Tony Ezike.
Addressing Soludo and his wife, Ekwunife urged the public to disregard an “article falsely attributed to her camp” claiming she alleged that a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Chris Uba, is the father of some of Soludo’s children.
The statement read in part: “The attention of Sen. Uche Ekwunife, the Anambra All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship Candidate, has been drawn to an article falsely attributed to her camp, alleging that Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, had children for Chief Chris Uba.
“Sen. Uche Ekwunife categorically states that although she has been maligned, defamed, and disparaged by the governor’s media team, the said publication did not emanate from her or her camp.”
Meanwhile, Ekwunife was seen in a video recording lambasting Soludo, saying he oozes body odour.
She also told Mrs. Soludo to clean up her husband and spare herself further embarrassments.
Reacting to the drama between Ekwunife and the Soludos, an “X” user, Youth in Process, @Youthinprocess, lamented how personal feuds destroy political energy that should, otherwise be channeled towards infrastructural development.
The post reads: “Ekwunife’s apology to Soludo’s family shows how personal feuds consume political energy while schools, roads, and hospitals wait.
“Leadership quality is settled at the ballot, not in insults. Mass turnout secures ballots—thugs fear crowds more than police.
“Casting a vote starts the process but safeguarding it is citizen work. Apathy leaves room for manipulation.”
Youth in Process added:
“Political quarrels over family and degrees may grab headlines, but their weight lies in who citizens empower.
“Anambra’s schools, markets and roads depend less on accusations than on ballots cast and defended.
“Mass turnout secures ballots—thugs fear crowds more than police. Voting starts reform; safeguarding it is citizen duty.”
