Emergency Rule: Why Ibas Should Be Probed – Kenneth Okonkwo

The Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, has gone ballistic against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Mr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, in another expose released on Sunday, September 21, 2025, regarding the controversial Florida properties allegedly belonging to the Wike family.

In the latest attack, Mr. Sowore asked the United States authorities to seize the properties and prosecute Mr. Wike.

After providing more scathing evidence against the Minister, Sowore noted that “these properties should be seized, and Wike himself should face indictment under both anti-money laundering statutes and U.S. federal law”.

It could be recalled that Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) published on September 20 that Sowore dug into the archives and excavated Wike’s secrets to broad daylight.

The first was the three different properties in the United States that he discovered and alerted the authorities.

Two of the properties were hidden in the name of his wife, Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, who also serves as a Court of Appeal judge in Nigeria.

To support his claims, he supplied screenshots of the documents to the properties as indicated in the report.

Respecting the said properties, Sowore stated on his “X” handle, @YeleSowore:

“It turns out that international thief Nyesom Wike has three different properties in Winter Springs, Florida. All of them were hidden under the name of his wife, Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, who also serves as a Court of Appeal judge in Nigeria, and shared out to his children.

“There may be even more properties, but we are making progress. We have already contacted the Office of the Attorney General of Florida, James Uthmeier, @AGJamesUthmeier, to notify them that Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, @GovWike, has laundered stolen funds (proceeds of crime) to purchase and traffic properties in their state, which are first-class felonies.”

Not satisfied with his achievements, Sowore also release an audio file between two people he claimed was Wike and someone else.

According to him, he contacted the Office of the Attorney General of Florida, James Uthmeier, notifying him that “Nyesom Ezenwo Wike… laundered stolen funds (proceeds of crime) to purchase and traffic properties in their state, which are first-class felonies”.

In a later development, he urged the government of Florida State to investigate and prosecute Wike.

He wrote further on X: “Nyesom @GovWike must be held accountable under U.S. law if he follows Tinubu to the UN General Assembly in New York.

“If Nyesom Ezenwo Wike @govwike follows Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT to the United Nations General Assembly, he must be arrested to face Florida’s money laundering charges as well as federal indictments for money laundering and asset trafficking.

“His money laundering schemes would fall under the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative, a program of the U.S. Department of Justice (@USDOJ_Intl) designed to combat corruption by foreign public officials, recover the proceeds of foreign bribery and theft laundered into or through the United States, and return stolen assets to the citizens of the countries from which they were taken.

“@GovWike Florida mansions, hidden under his wife’s Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, a Nigerian Court of Appeal judge and children’s names, are textbook examples of laundering proceeds of crime.

“These properties should be seized, and Wike himself should face indictment under both Florida’s anti-money laundering statutes and U.S. federal law.”

Currently, both President Tinubu and Minister Wike have withdrawn from Nigeria’s delegation to the United State for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for no apparent reason.

The delegation will now be led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

In the latest development, Sowore displayed “Quit Claim Deeds [showing] that Nigeria’s FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike… and his wife, Eberechi Suzette Nyesom-Wike, a Court of Appeal judge in Nigeria, used to transfer three different Florida properties into the names of their children, Jordan, Joaquim, and Jasmyne”.

He posted on X: “These are the Quit Claim Deeds that Nigeria’s FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (@GovWike), and his wife, Eberechi Suzette Nyesom-Wike, a Court of Appeal judge in Nigeria, used to transfer three different Florida properties into the names of their children, Jordan, Joaquim, and Jasmyne.

“These transfers were done in 2023, but Mr. International Thief said he was not aware.

“With this discovery, it is now also clear that @GovWike has a fourth property in Florida at 113 Spring Creek Lane, Winter Springs, FL 32708.

“This explains why Wike boasted on @channelstv in a recent interview with @seunokin that he “didn’t know” his wife and children owned mansions in the United States.

“But the international thief has now been caught in his own web of lies. By the way, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike @GovWike was due for follow-up treatment for a new ailment and chest infection that recently kept him in London for two weeks, which he was going to do under the guise of attending the UN General Assembly with @officialABAT but yesterday the VP, Kashim Shettima was asked to lead the delegation with 7 other ministers, @GovWike decided to bail out and several state governors have also been told to stay back for now.

“There is no hiding place anymore.”

Explaining why Wike and his wife are using a Quit Deed to “transfer their laundered wealth to their three kids”, Sowore continued:

“A Quit Claim Deed is one of the simplest property transfer documents in U.S. real estate law. It allows one person, the grantor, to sign over whatever ownership interest they may have in a property to another person, the grantee.

“Crucially, it offers no guarantees the grantor makes no promise that the title is valid, clear, or even legitimate. In short, it transfers “whatever interest” the grantor has, nothing more.

“Ordinarily, quit claim deeds are used for routine family transactions, a husband adding a wife to a title, parents transferring property to children, or heirs resolving paperwork after an inheritance.

“Because they bypass warranties and detailed title checks, they are cheap, quick, and often escape close scrutiny.

“But this simplicity is exactly why kleptocrats love them. Corrupt officials exploit “quit claim deeds” to launder stolen wealth.

“By transferring properties into the names of wives, children, or other relatives, they hide their true ownership.

“On paper, the transactions appear to be ordinary family planning. In reality, they are deliberate strategies to conceal the original source of illicit funds.

“No public sale, no market-value exchange, no visible money trail, just the quiet concealment of corruption beneath harmless looking paperwork.

“This is precisely what Wike has done.

“Properties in Florida, purchased with the proceeds of corruption, were quietly moved into the names of his wife, herself a senior judicial officer in Nigeria, and their children.

“The pattern is a textbook case of laundering stolen Nigerian wealth into U.S. real estate, using quit claim deeds as legal camouflage.

“Under U.S. law, such transactions amount to money laundering and trafficking in stolen property, serious crimes punishable under both state and federal statutes.

“They are also subject to asset seizure and forfeiture under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative.

“Wike’s Florida deeds are the very trail of corruption, the very evidence that US prosecutors need to unravel his kleptocracy and reclaim assets stolen from the people of Nigeria.”

Sowore also explained why Wike should be scrutinised, noting that “Wike bought the mansion in cash but claimed his “in-laws’ purchased it for his wife and children”.

He emphasised that Florida State law prohibits anyone who has stolen or laundered money from using it to purchase property in the state.

He added that “several statutes in the State of Florida directly prohibit this criminal conduct”, and that this “Wike is about to find out in a very hard way!”

Addressing Florida’s Attorney General, @AGJamesUthmeier, Sowore stated:

“Florida State law prohibits anyone who has stolen or laundered money from using it to purchase property, and international thief @GovWike bought the mansion in cash but claimed his “in-laws’ purchased it for his wife and children. He’s about to find out in a very hard way!

“Florida’s Attorney General @AGJamesUthmeier must be made aware that money laundering and property trafficking crimes have occurred in his state, that several statutes in the State of Florida directly prohibit this criminal conduct, and Nigeria’s FCT Minister @GOVWike
is about to find out.

“Several statutes in the State of Florida directly prohibit what Florida State law prohibits anyone who has stolen or laundered money from using it to purchase property, and international thief @GovWike bought the mansion in cash while claiming his “in-laws” purchased it for his wife and children, has done, which is illegally concealing ownership of his Florida properties by placing them under the names of his children and wife, who is herself a public official (a Court of Appeal judge) in Nigeria.

“WIKE’s crimes, among others, fall squarely under organizing or directing trafficking in stolen property, a first-degree felony under Florida Statute § 812.019, punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

“Nyesom Ezenwo WIKE, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Minister, illegally grabbed land in Abuja for his family, but he could never escape his $2 million illegally acquired mansion, which is a property trafficking crime in Florida, USA.”

But while all these are raging on the internet, Sowore was not done.

He released another “Full audio of Governor Nyesom Wike caught on tape arranging bribery of INEC officials” on YouTube.

Listen to the audio below:

An “X” user, DUBAS @DubasPharmacy, tried to verify the authenticity of the audio file and as asked X AI, Grok, to “confirm this audio are they AI generated”.

DUBAS wrote: “@grok can you confirm this audio are they AI generated. What does this mean for Nigeria Politics.”

Grok, @grok, responded:

“The audio is from a 2016 leak by Sahara Reporters, alleging Wike bribed INEC officials during Rivers elections. Fact-checks (e.g., Dubawa, Prime Progress) confirm it’s authentic, not AI-generated—predating advanced deepfake tech. No sources suggest otherwise.

For Nigerian politics, it underscores persistent electoral corruption claims, often resurfaced amid rivalries, potentially eroding trust in institutions. (287 chars).

Wike responds

In the meantime, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has responded to Sowore’s accusations. Speaking through his media aide, Mr. Lere Olayinka, Wike called Sowore a “thief” and “rapist”.

Taking to his X handle, @OlayinkaLere, Olayinka wrote:

“Good Morning THIEF and RAPIST Sowore.

“Where are the court papers of the case they said you filed against Wike in Florida?

“Let it not be another of your lies that you were injected with lethal substance in UNILAG ooo.

“We are waiting. Meanwhile, continue to entertain the gullibles.

“But be ready to provide the court judgement in which President Tinubu was convicted to justify your calling the President a criminal.”

Olayinka noted further that Wike never denied that his wife has properties in the US and accused Sowore of falsifying his assets declaration.

He stated further:

“Someone is sourcing PUBLIC DOCUMENTS that are readily available on the websites of institutions concerned and making noise about them.

“The question is, did Wike deny that his wife has properties in the US? No, he didn’t.

“THIEF, Cashtivist and RAPIST Sowore thinks everybody is like him, who lied in his ASSETS DECLARATION that he has just N5m and one Toyota Car.

“Person wey dey collect GRANTs running into millions of Dollars claimed that he has N5m and one Toyota Car.”
