EPL: Amorim plots Arsenal revenge as Arteta aims for league double over Man United

The stage is set for the biggest English Premier League, EPL, match of this weekend as Manchester United host
Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The match will take place on Sunday evening and the kick-off time is 5.30 pm, Nigerian time.

Man United head to the game after winning their last Premier League match 3-2 against Ipswich Town while Arsenal played a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest.

The last time both teams met in the Premier League was in December last year.

Arsenal defeated the Red Devils 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba.

However, the Gunners will endeavour to close the 16-point gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool when they face Man United in the evening.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, will also hope to complete a league double against United.

Arteta has already admitted that United are capable of putting in a strong display against Arsenal after he watched them play against Real Socieded in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

There are no new injury concerns for Arteta. That means Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli remain out, as do long-term injury victims Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Myles Lewis-Skelly completed his one-match ban following his red card against West Ham United in February and he is available for domestic action again.

Man United, on the other hand, will hope to avoid another defeat when they face Arsenal, having lost against them in the reverse fixture last year.

They currently sit in the 15th position on the Premier League table with 33 points after 27 matches.

Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte missed the Real Socieded trip after picking up knocks against Fulham, giving Man United manager Ruben Amorim even more headaches, with January signing Patrick Dorgu suspended following his red card against Ipswich Town.

Amorim will be without Amad Diallo (ankle) and Kobbie Mainoo (calf) due to injury, while Mason Mount, Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw have been missing for the past few months.

Lisandro Martinez is out for the season after ACL surgery while backup goalkeepers Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton are also in the treatment room.

A win for United will see Amorim’s side move up from the 15th position on the log.

Also, a win for Arsenal will see Arteta’s side complete a league double against United and also close the gap on Liverpool to 13 points on the log.

Recall that Liverpool had defeated Southampton 3-1 at Anfield on Saturday.
